Alamo at Night photo by Bob HowenJuly In San Antonio

July is beautiful in San Antonio and the River Walk provides a cool, shady retreat. The Crowne Plaza Riverwalk Hotel is on the quiet edge of the heart of downtown San Antonio. Alamo Plaza, River Center Shopping Complex and the Alamo are within a short relaxing boat ride or leisurely walk. Scheduled sightseeing tours leave daily from Alamo Plaza. Alamo Trolley offers an historic tour and an uptown tour. Evening walking tours are also available. Take time to visit the Alamo or the IMAX Theatre. Cruise down the beautiful river on a barge, take a leisurely stroll through Hemisfair Park to the Institute of Texan Cultures or explore the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, enjoying the splendid fountains along the way. Spend time at Market Square for a taste of old Mexico, offering more than 50 specialty shops and a variety of food. Browse La Villita, San Antonio's oldest surviving settlement, dating from the 1750's, to view the artists and craftsmen, shops, and restaurants. The Majestic Theater, home to the San Antonio Symphony and the downtown theatre district, offers concerts, symphony, opera, Broadway Musicals and live theater in restored historic landmarks.
